THE Ladies Gaelic Football Association is delighted to announce Glenveagh Homes as new sponsor of the LGFA National Volunteer of the Year awards. This announcement builds on the already strong relationship between the LGFA and Glenveagh Homes, who are also the Association’s Gaelic4Girls programme sponsor. Applications for the 2023 Glenveagh Homes LGFA National Volunteer of the Year awards close on Friday November 24, with winners to be honoured in ten categories. The LGFA scheme, in its seventh year and now boosted by the addition of Glenveagh Homes as official sponsor, acknowledges the sterling and unselfish work of volunteers working in Ladies Football. Administrators, coaches and media are among those who are honoured across the ten categories, while the LGFA will also welcome a winner into the Volunteer Hall of Fame. The Overall Volunteer of the Year award will receive the Lulu Carroll award, named after the late Lulu Carroll, who was a 2001 All-Ireland senior medallist with Laois. Lulu, who passed away in 2007, was a committed servant to Ladies Football at club and county levels, and one of the game’s most popular and well-known figures. Lulu, a former All-Star recipient, also won eight Leinster titles with Laois, along with six county senior titles and a provincial crown at club level with Timahoe. The 2023 Glenveagh Homes LGFA National Volunteer of the Year award winners will gather at Croke Park on Friday, February 9, 2024, for a very special evening to celebrate their outstanding achievements. Commenting on the news that Glenveagh Homes will sponsor the awards, Ladies Gaelic Football Association President Mícheál Naughton said: “We are hugely excited to welcome on board Glenveagh Homes as the new, official sponsor of our LGFA National Volunteer of the Year awards. “Glenveagh Homes will now provide valuable support for our LGFA Volunteer of the Year awards, which have been a huge success since our inaugural presentation night in February 2018. “Glenveagh Homes are committed to building lasting communities and there is a huge synergy between what they do and our values as an Association, and our commitment to our grassroots members and volunteers. “Glenveagh Homes are also making a huge impact with their sponsorship of our Gaelic4Girls programme, which aims at increasing participation in Ladies Gaelic Football in the 8-12 age bracket. “Now, Glenveagh Homes are ensuring an even bigger footprint in our local communities by coming on board as sponsors of our National Volunteer of the Year awards, which salute the efforts of our volunteers at home and abroad.” On behalf of Glenveagh Homes, Head of Marketing, Cameron McDonnell, added: “Glenveagh are delighted to support the LGFA National Volunteer Awards, honouring LGFA members for their inspiring work in clubs and counties across the country. “Our new sponsorship builds on the existing partnership with the LGFA and the successes of the Gaelic4Girls programme to-date, which aligns closely with our Building Lasting Communities programme nationally. “Best of luck to all the nominees from all at Glenveagh.” Full details of the 2023 Glenveagh Homes LGFA National Volunteer of the Year awards can be found at: https://ladiesgaelic.ie/the-lgfa/national-volunteer-awards/ About Glenveagh: Glenveagh Properties plc, listed on Euronext Dublin and the London Stock Exchange, is a leading Irish homebuilder.
