Goals prove vital for Louth

Louth 2-10 Roscommon 0-12

Louth opened their TESCO HomeGrown National Football League with an encouraging 4 point win over Roscommon at St. Michael’s in Drogheda yesterday. Kate Flood was the thorn in Roscommon’s side as she accounted for half of Louth’s scores with a personal tally of 1-5.

Louth struggled for scores in the first half and clung onto a narrow 4 point lead at half time despite enjoying the advantage of the stiff breeze at their backs. Kate Flood made a telling contribution midway through the second half as she scored a vital point and followed up with a goal from the following passage of play.

Roscommon continued to push and scored three unanswered points as they looked to overhaul their opponents but Gillian McDonnell came on to effectively kill off Roscommon’s hopes with a well taken goal.
