JACKIES LOOKING FORWARD TO AISLING MCGING All Ireland SEMI FINAL

JACKIES LOOKING FORWARD TO AISLING MCGING All Ireland SEMI FINAL

It’s that time of year again when the business end of the Aisling McGing Memorial Championship comes around. With the league section complete Dublin look forward to knockout football and pitting their wits against neighbours Kildare in the semi final for the second time in 3 years. Dublin won comfortably in Mountmellick two years ago but expect next Sundays gave to be a very tough test against an excellent Kildare team. The teams met earlier in the season in Eillsitown and the Jackie’s emerged with a one point win after a titanic battle. The Dublin management are expecting another tough game on Sunday next and certainly will not be underestimating their opposition. The Jackie’s have been very happy with their progress thus so far this year after a tough start against reigning champs Cork.11 points down at half time Dublin look beaten but in the second half wowed the large Dublin support present in Westmanstown with an incredible fight back to share the points with the Champs. Next up was a visit to Neighbours Kildare and again Dublin’s fighting spirit was evident again as the emerged with a one point win. Mayo provided the next opponents and after a close second half Dublin pulled away to win in the end. In the final group game Galway were the guests in a sunny Na Fianna and again after a very hard fought game Dublin emerged victors to set up a home semi final with Kildare.

Dublin are well aware that all their hard work and results will count for little, unless they beat their local rivals Kildare to reach what would be their third consecutive final.
The team has come a long way this season introducing a lot of new players to inter county football, but know next Sunday’s semi final will provide their toughest test yet against an excellent Kildare team.

This game has all the ingredients of a cracker so please come along to CLG Na Fianna on Sunday next August 9th Throw-in 3pm, and support the girls in their bid to make another All Ireland Final.
