Congratulations to the 32 teams who took part in the FBD All Ireland U14 7s in Kilmacud Crokes on Saturday 26th September and thank to you Marie Hickey, LGFA President who was there early in the morning in Glenalbyn to encourage the players and meet the mentors and supporters. The Plate Semi-Finals included Portlaoise 3-7 to Longford Slashers 1-1 and Athlone 7-5 to Carryduff , Down 4-8. The Plate Final found two Leinster teams, Portlaoise and Athlone battling it out with a final result of 8-11 for Portlaoise to 5-1 for Athlone in an exciting game with Gerry McGough from Kilmacud Crokes refereeing this final. Our Cup Semi Final’s included two Connacht teams Clann na nGael, Roscommon take on Kilkerrin Clonberne, Galway with Kilkerrin Clonberne earning their place in the final with a score of 8-9 to1-6 and Kilmacud Crokes V Dunboyne was a thrilling game with Dunboyne securing their place in the final by one point with a final score of Dunboyne 4-8 to Kilmacud 6-1. The Cup Final was refereed by John Doherty and produced high scores from Kilkerrin Clonberne in the first half with Dunboyne drawing on all reserves to fight back and all players from both teams gave 100% after a long day of football and Kilkerrrin Clonberne, Galway finally finished well deserved Cup winners 2015 with a fantastic final score of 12-5 to Dunboyne’s score of 8-7 and well done to all the players from the 32 teams who had given huge commitment throughout the competition and to all their management teams. Finbarr O’Driscoll, Leinster LGFA President presented the finalists.
