17 April 2007 Ladies Night at the races Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! Ladies Night At The Races Yes all roads lead to the Lynch West County Hotel this Saturday night, April 21st, for an evening of fun and entertainment – and an odd flutter on the fillies also – as the Clare Ladies Football Board hold a fundraising Race Night in support of their county teams. The white flag will be raised at 8.30pm sharp and the tape goes up for the off of the first race at 8.45pm. What follows will be an eleven race mixed card with a variety of races to suit all tastes – including auction races (for the equine fillies) and novelty races (Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer round the hall handicap etc.). No bets will be barred in this evening of fun and entertainment and the Clare Ladies Board are hoping for a big turn out of sports supporters to assist them in defraying the costs involved in preparing county teams. The indomitable Joe Lillis will be compére for the night so plenty of fun assured there. On a more serious note though the Ladies Board is hoping for big support and is especially hopeful that all clubs (GAA, Ladies Football and Camogie) will row in behind this fundraising initiative. The Clare Ladies flagship team stands a very good chance of honours in this year’s All Ireland Intermediate Championship and is very hopeful of a Croke Park appearance next September. The county U-14’s and U-16’s are also hopeful of a very big year and are confident of their chances of bringing some silverware back to the county again in 2007. It may not be Aintree, Ascot or Cheltenham but the West County on Saturday night could be the place to recoup the Numbersixvalverde or Hardy Eustace losses while assisting a good cause. So put on the glad-rags this Saturday and head for the races and maybe you will be in the winners enclosure before the evening’s over. Dr. Paul McKenna, PRO Share this Article 0 0
