SENIORS IN LEINSTER CHAMPIONSHIP ACTION

The Laois Senior Ladies Football team get their 2013 TG4 Championship campaign underway this Sunday when they face Meath in the Leinster semi-final at 2pm in a Meath venue TBC

 

Meath recorded a 2-12 to 1-9 win over Westmeath in the quarter-final on Sunday. The other semi-final sees Dublin host Kildare at Portmarnock.

LAOIS LADIES GOLF CLASSIC

Laois Ladies Gaelic Football Association will hold their annual Golf Classic on Saturday July 20th at 1pm in the Heath Golf Club.

 

A team of four costs €120 with a Burger and Drink on the 9th hole.

NIALL MCCORMACK REFEREES ALL-IRELAND FINAL

Well done to Niall McCormack who refereed his first All-Ireland Final on Saturday last.

 

The St. Conleth’s clubman and Laois LGFA Vice-Chairperson took charge of the Under 14 A decider, which saw Cork record a 3-15 to 1-6 win over Kildare.

 

CALLING LAOIS PLAYERS WHO PLAYED IN ALL-IRELAND ADULT FINALS

As part of the 40th Anniversary of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, players who featured on All-Ireland Final panels are invited back to Croke Park on September 29th next for this years finals as guests of the LGFA.

 

Laois competed in the All-Ireland Senior Championship Final in 1985, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996 and 2001 and also featured in the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Final in 1998 and 2000.

ST CONLETHS IN ALL IRELAND FEILE

St Conleths Under 14’s will represent Laois in the 2013 Bus Éireann All-Ireland Feile in Derry from this Friday to Sunday.

 

The team will contest the Division 3 competition where they will be hosted by Derry club Dungiven. St Conleth’s first match is against the host club on Friday at 1.30pm. On Saturday they face Claudy of Derry at 10.25am and Sligo’s Drumcliffe at 12.35pm. All games are in Dungiven.

 

U12 CHAMPIONSHIP

The Under 12 Championship continues apace with plenty of games in the last week.

 

Borris in Ossory were victorious over Ballyroan, while Portlaoise claimed a win over Park/Ratheniska last Thursday, to take their third victory in three games. They now face Ballyfin in their next match.

 

Ballyfin played The Heath on Thursday night  in an exciting game and were winners on a score line of 1-5 to 0-2.

 

Meanwhile, St. Conleth’s recorded a 6-8 to 5-4 away victory over Shanahoe in a highly entertaining encounter.

 

GAELIC 4 MOTHERS AND OTHERS

Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others training for Ballyroan Ladies Football club continues every Wednesday from 8pm to 9pm. Numbers are growing each week and newcomers are always welcome.
