Leinster Council 3rd Level College Scholarships 2011

Leinster Council awarded five players their 3rd level college scholarship, on Saturday last at their annual Leinster convention. Amy McGuinness (Dublin), Leah Mullins (Carlow), Niamh Carroll (Wicklow), Aisling Parker (Wexford) and Louise Keatley (Kildare) were presented with their bursary of €500 by Leinster President Sean McMullin.
Amy McGuinness is studying physical education and biology in DCU, and plays her club football with Fingallians of Dublin, competing in the senior division. Amy is no stranger to collecting awards, she was named as player of the match in this years Leinster senior championship final and the European Den Hag tournament, she went on to win a place on the 2010 Bord Gais Energy division one team of the league.
The highlight of Amy’s career to date must be winning her first senior all Ireland medal with Dublin, her hard work through out 2010, was rewarded when she collected a prestige’s O’Neills / TG4 all star award in November. To finish off 2010, she was presented with Dublin’s blue star award for 2010.

Leah Mullins from Carlow, is in her 2nd year in Carlow Institute of technology, where she is presently studying Physiology and health science. Leah’s plays her club football with Baile Ceartharlach, winning this seasons senior A County championship, and when not competing on the field, Leah puts on her secretarial hat to ensure that her home club is kept running smoothly.
Leah is a qualified referee, taking charge of a number of game in last years all Ireland mini- games, Leah also officiated as lines person at the 2010 Leinster junior championship final, the TG4 all Ireland junior semi-final and the Tesco Intermediate and senior club championship finals.

Niamh Carroll hails from Blessington in County Wicklow, and attends Mary Immaculate College in Limerick, where she is studying for a Grad. diploma in Primary education. Todate, Niamh has collected three senior county championship medals, a NFL medal, and two junior Leinster championship winner’s medals, and also played on the 2007 & 08 Interprovincial
teams.
Niamh is a great ambassador for ladies gaelic football in Wicklow, attending many functions including coaching at the annual cul camps which are held at venues through out the county.

Aisling Parker, is one of Wexford’s up and coming stars, Aisling plays with the Crossabeg / Ballymurn club, where she has won the Junior B county championship, along with division 3 & 4 league titles. At inter-county level Aisling has a Leinster U/14 medal in her trophy cabinet which she won back in 2004, in 2006 she collected an U/16 county championship medal. Aisling attends
Saint Patricks College, in Tipperary.

Louise Keatley, is in her 4th year in DCU, where she is studying for a BSc in Nursing, Louise is also a regular on DCU’s senior football team, her club team is St. Laurences with whom she has won junior A championship titles, Louise is also on the Kildare senior county team, and when not competing Louise is involved coaching and refereeing juvenile teams.
