Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent Player of the Month for October Nollaig Cleary is the Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent player of the month for October. Cleary proved the difference in the TG4 All-Ireland final against Armagh when her 1-02 from play ensured Cork won a famous “double double” of Camogie and Ladies Football. Cork struggled for long periods of the final and the Rebellettes trailed by as much as five points against the Ulster Champions but Cleary’s goal just after half time changed the game. Cork held on to win by 1-07 to 1-06 in an exciting and tense final watched by over 26,000 in Croke Park. Cleary, a school teacher from West Cork but based in Cork city, was delighted to pick up the Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent Player of the Month award. The Gabriel Rangers star said: “I was happy with my own performance and it was nice to be the one to get the goal in the final. The final was really tough and Armagh were very strong and physical and to be honest we were lucky in the end. This year’s win was extremely satisfying as we had so much pressure on us as favourites but we have now gone nearly two years without defeat and we have proven ourselves worthy champions.” Share this Article 0 0
