Mayo Ladies Football clubs to be rewarded for hard work

Mayo Ladies Football clubs to be rewarded for hard work
Connacht Ladies Football this week launched plans for a new Club Recognition Award, recognising clubs who endeavour to reach the highest standards in coaching, refereeing, administration and promotion of Ladies Football. This award is open to all clubs in the Province with one club in each county to be selected as the overall winners at the end of the year.
Mary Beades, Regional Games Development Officer for Connacht Ladies and Pat Costello from Connacht Council addressed the Mayo County Board meeting on Monday night outlining details of the award. Pat Costello outlined the great opportunity that this is for all clubs “to have an opportunity to be recognised for their great work. Even if they are not winning county championships, clubs can still be extremely active and very progressive in terms of coaching and administration and therefore should be rewarded for such work”.
Mary Beades encouraged all clubs in Mayo to aim to achieve all of the targets set within this award. “Some clubs may be in a position to apply this year for the award and others may have to do a bit of work to be in the running next year. Either way we are asking all clubs to take a look at their structures at the moment and try to make some small changes that will make their club more efficient and in turn possibly more successful.” The winner in each county will receive an equipment pack to the value of €500 and a cheque to the value of €500. Connacht Ladies are delighted to announce that Masita, a leading sports equipment company, have come on board as a sponsor of the programme.
President of Connacht Council Geraldine Carey thanked Masita for their sponsorship and stressed that without their input at this time the programme may not have been implemented.
