Mums to the Fore at Saval GAC

Teams from Antrim, Armagh, Tyrone and Down were among those who took part . Local representation at the Blitz were Newry Mitchels, St Michael’s Killean, Belleeks and host club Saval.

Before the start of the competition on Saturday everyone present took time to reflect on the passing of Davina Marks from the Newry Mitchels team who sadly passed away earlier last month. Davina had played at the Ulster Blitz that was hosted in Saval last year.

The mums and their supporters thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon’s football and the refreshments in the Sports Hall afterwards.

Anthony Crozier Saval Blitz Co-ordinator would like to thank all the teams that took part, the referees Dessie Turley, Eamon McCarthy, John McCarthy and Pat Fox and all the people that worked behind the scenes to make this once again a success.Anthony went on to state; that Gaelic 4 Mothers has been one of the best things that has happened to the club over the past year, We hope it will act as a catalyst for the encouragement and the development of even more women participating in Gaelic Games and Club life and I would have no problems recommending the initiative to all clubs.

Training for the mums continues every Thursday at 6-30pm. The Saval G4M Walking Group continues every Tuesday at 7-00pm meeting at the club.

New mums are welcome to attend.
