Noel O’Connor is the Bord Gáis Energy / Irish Daily Star Ladies Football Manager of the Month for May Cork manager Noel O’Connor has been awarded the Bord Gáis Energy / Irish Daily Star Manager of the Month award for May after leading Cork to a third consecutive Bord Gáis Energy NFL Division 1 title. Cork’s achievement is all the more remarkable considering that they lost their opening match of the year at home to Dublin, registering only six scores in the process. Such an early set back would have rocked most teams, never mind the reigning All-Ireland champions. However, under Noel’s expert tutelage they recovered from this early set back and reached the Division 1 Final at Parnell Park, defeating Galway and retaining their title on a score line of 2-10 to 1-09. It was the manner of their victory against a Galway side undefeated up until that point that impressed most and was testament to Noel’s leadership and management abilities. A delighted Noel said, “This just caps off what has been a truly remarkable league campaign. I am privileged to work with a panel of players that are so dedicated to the cause. I also have a coaching team around me that is second to none and my job would not be possible without their input and expertise. I would like to thank Eamon Ryan, Frankie Honohan and Justin MacCarthaigh for their continued support and we look forward to the summer and doing our best for Cork.” Speaking at the award presentation, Ger Cunningham, Sports Sponsorship Manager, Bord Gáis Energy, said, “I’d like to congratulate Noel on being presented with this award – it’s a terrific achievement to win three league titles in a row. Noel and his team have done an outstanding job at the helm of the Cork team and I wish him and the players the very best of luck for the Championship ahead.” Share this Article 0 0
