O’Neill’s Dublin Ladies Football Gala Awards 2007

 

The 2007 O’Neill’s Annual Dublin Ladies Football Gala Awards Night
was held in the 5-Star, Castleknock Hotel & Country Club.
Guest of Honour was Geraldine Giles, (President -Ladies Gaelic
Football Association).

John Hillery, Chairperson of the Dublin County Board welcomed
the distinguished guests who included, Bill Daly, (Leinster President)
and Helen O’Rourke, (Chief Executive) of the Ladies Gaelic Football
Association. Also in attendance was Gerry Harrington, Dublin GAA
Co. Board Chairman, John Costello, Chief Executive. Representing
the sponsors of the event was Tony Towell, Managing Director of
O’Neill’s.

2006 All-Ireland Champions – Dublin U-16 Ladies Football Team.

Niamh McEvoy (St. Sylvester’s) accepted the All-Ireland Cup from
Geraldine Giles, (President -Ladies Gaelic Football Association)
on behalf of the victorious Dublin U-16 team who were crowned
2006 All-Ireland Champions.

2007 O’Neill’s Dublin Ladies Football, “Distinguished Contribution
Award”

The Co. Board Chairperson, John Hillery delivered the citation
to mark the announcement of the 2007 O’Neill’s Dublin Ladies Football,
“Distinguished Contribution Award”. The very worthy
recipient of this year’s award was Patricia Monahan to mark her
outstanding contribution to the promotion of Ladies Gaelic Football
in Dublin. Joining John Hillery at the special award was Geraldine
Giles, Helen O’Rourke, Kathleen Colreavy, Gerry Harrington, Dublin
GAA Co. Board Chairman and John Costello -C.E.O.

Announcement of the 2006 Dublin Player of the Year Awards.

Denise Masterson (Ballymun Kickhams) received the “2006 Dublin
Senior Player of the Year” award. Meanwhile, Sinead Aherne
(St. Sylvesters) secured the “2006 Dublin Senior Player’s,
Player of the Year” award.

Angela Gallagher (Lucan Sarsfields) was awarded the “2006
Dublin Junior Player of the Year” whilst her Club colleague,
Patricia Gordon was voted the “2006 Dublin Junior Players’,
Player of the Year”.

Aoife Greene (Fingallians) was nominated “2006 Minor Player
of the Year” whilst her Club colleague Aine Deasy was voted
the “2006 Minor Player’s, Player of the Year”.

Presentations to Leinster Senior & Intermediate Championship
Winners.

Martina Farrell accepted the Leinster Senior Club trophy from
Geraldine Giles on behalf of Ballyboden St. Enda’s, previous,
back-to-back winners of the All-Ireland Senior Ladies Club Championship
titles.

Team Captain, Katie Joyce (Naomh Mearnog / St. Sylvesters) accepted
the Leinster Intermediate Club Championship Cup from Bill Daly
– Leinster President.

Presentations to Dublin Co. Championship Winners.

Tony Towell (Managing Director – O’Neill’s Irish International
Sports Co.) was on hand to present individual presentations to
the Club captains of Senior, Intermediate and 4 of the Dublin
Junior Co. Finalists.

The Co. Championship winners were presented with their silverware,
in the following sequence:

Dublin Senior Club Champions – Ballyboden St. Enda’s presented
to Sarah Denvir.

Dublin Intermediate Club Champions – Naomh Mearnog / St. Sylvesters
presented to Katie Joyce (Team Captain).

Dublin Junior Champions – accepted on behalf of Ballyboden St.
Enda’s by Marie Denvir

Dublin Junior ‘B’ Co. Champions – Croi Ro Naofa presented to Nicki
Murphy.

Dublin Junior ‘C’ Co. Champions – Cuala presented to Aoife McGovern.

Unavailable on the evening to accept the Dublin Junior ‘D’ Co.
Championship trophy were newcommers, Finglas Gaels.

Dublin Junior ‘E’ Co. Champions – Naomh Mearnog / St. Sylvesters
presented to Katie Slattery.

Dublin Minor Leinster Champions honoured.

The Dublin Minor Ladies Football squad were presented with their
Leinster Championship medals. Lorna Hillery (Castleknock) 2006
Captain of the Dublin Minor Team received the Leinster Championship
Cup from Leinster President – Bill Daly.
