Panels Announced for Ladies Football Interpros

Kinnegad GAA Club to host Interprovincial Championships this Saturday

The panels for the ladies football Interprovincial Championships have been announced. The Interprovincial Championships will take place this Saturday in Kinnegad GAA Club, Co. Westmeath with the tournament’s first throw-in at 11.00am.

Not unexpectedly, defending champions Munster have a strong Cork contingent in their ranks with ten Rebelettes togging out for the province. Defeated National Football League Division 2 finalists Waterford contribute four players to the squad.

Leinster, who has not won the Interpro title since 2006, has 10 Dublin players in their squad alongside seven players from the O’Moore County who impressed in the national league this year.

The Ulster selection is dominated by Monaghan players with nine Farney women in the squad. Donegal, who were impressive in their National Football League Division 2 victory, are rewarded with four places in the squad.

The Connacht panel is an all Galway affair as the Tribeswomen look to bounce back from their heart-wrenching defeat to Cork in the Bord Gáis Energy National Football League Division 1 final. Connacht has not won the Interprovincial Championships since 2000.

The four provinces will play a round robin format with the top two teams advancing to the Interprovincial final and the other two provinces facing off in the Shield Final. The Interprovincial final will throw in at 3.45pm, Saturday 22nd May.

The tournament referees for the Interprovincial Championships are Tony Lennon (Dublin/Leinster), Sean Joy (Kerry/Munster), Terence McShea (Donegal/Ulster) and
