TG4 Senior Championship Quarter Finals

Cork v Donegal, Dr Hyde Park, Roscommon, 12.30pm, (G Corrigan)

These two teams have met once previously this year with Cork coming out on top on a score line of 4-9 to 1-7 in the first round of the National League. Since then Cork have gone on to compete in the Division 1 league decider against Monaghan and have also retained their Munster title with a six point victory over Kerry. Donegal on the other hand have taken the scenic route to this stage and dispatched Kildare in the previous round with two goals from Ciara Shovlin and another from Geraldine McLaughlin. The Northern girls will need big performances in every position if they are to cause a shock this Saturday in Roscommon.

Cork: E. Harte, A. Walsh, B. Stack, D. O’Reilly, B. Corkery, R.Buckley, G. O’Flynn, J. Murphy, N. Kelly, L. McMahon, C. O’Sullivan, A.Walsh, N. Cleary, V. Mulcahy, G. Kearney.

Mayo v Monaghan, Dr Hyde Park, Roscommon, 2.15pm, (MJ O’Keeffe)

Current Ulster Champions, Monaghan, head into their quarter-final encounter with Mayo on the back of an empathic win against Donegal in the Ulster Final. Caoimhe Mohan and Ciara McAnespie were both in fine form that day for the Farney Women as they saw off Donegal on a scoreline of 5-25 to 1-8. Similarly, Mayo go into the game on the back of a comprehensive victory over Tyrone in the previous round. The Westerner’s sharp shooter, and arguably one of the greatest players that the ladies game has ever seen, Cora Staunton bagged an incredible 3-11 in that game and her team mates will be hoping for more of the same as they face their toughest assignment to date in this year’s championship.
