Rebelettes as short as 4/9 to win out

LADIES FOOTBALL NEWS

The Rebelettes are as short as 4/9 with Boylesports
to win the TG4 Senior Ladies Football Championship while Ladbrokes
have the double winners at 4/7. Mayo are 5/4 with Ladbrokes to
deny the Rebelettes three in a row while Boylesports have Mayo
at 13/8 to lift the Brendan Martin Cup. Mayo comfortably booked
their place in the final despite a late scare from a plucky Tyrone
side and although they can rely on the prolific talents of Cora
Staunton upfront they will be concerned about the disciplinary
lapses which left them with only 13 players on the park at the
final whistle in their semi-final against Tyrone.

Mayo had done enough at that stage to weather the late Tyrone
storm but losing two players to the bin against Cork could spell
disaster as they seek their first All Ireland title since 2003.
All six finalists are now known for the TG4 Ladies Football finals
triple header which takes place in Croke Park on Sunday 23rd September.

Leitrim join Wexford in the first ever Intermediate final having
scraped through by a one point margin against Clare. Leitrim will
be making their second consecutive trip to Croke Park as they
played in last year’s Junior final against Sligo. Wexford have
never won an All Ireland championship while Leitrim won their
only championship title in 1988 when they beat London to claim
the junior crown.

One of these two sides will become the first to lift the Mary
Quinn Memorial Cup which has been commissioned for the inaugural
Intermediate championship.

Kilkenny will play London in the final of the Junior Championship.
Kilkenny booked their place in the final with an impressive win
over Derry while London’s two point victory over Carlow ensured
the exiles first finals appearance since 1993.
