Minor ladies have qualified for the Division1 championship final having defeated St Brigid’s in the semi final in Croghan on Friday evening. The girls were in control from the get go and a clinically finished goal from full forward Ciara Dowd mid way through the first half gave them a five point lead that they never relinquished. Final score Shannon Gaels 1-9, St Brigids 0-6. Team – Aisling Egan, Sarah Surlis, Rachel Mc Dermott, Caoimhe O Dowd, Connie Doyle, Elaine Mc Dermott, Catherine Flynn, Christina Beirne (0-1), Tess Murtagh, Emer Matthews, Katie Daly (0-4), Ruth Flynn, Ciara Dowd (1-0), Aine O Dowd (0-3), Emma O Beirne, Niamh Murray, Mairead O Dowd (0-1), Viola Boe. Our U 14 girls had a very successful start to their championship campaign with two wins during the week. On Monday evening they travelled to Ballinlough for their opening game V Michael Glaveys, the girls put in a skilful performance and came away with a win. On Sunday evening they had a comprehensive victory over Eire Og in Croghan.
