Sligo Notes 02.09.2013

Commiserations to the Sligo Ladies Intermediate Team as they were knocked out of the Championship by Down last week end in the quarter final stages.  After a long but entertaining battle the final score was 5.10 to 4.8.  Sligo had them in their grasp but there wasn’t enough time to secure the victory.  A lot of time, commitment and work have been put in by the bunch of girls this year and no doubt they’ll feel the disappointment of loosing for a few weeks to come but hopefully they will stick together and return fighting next year. The management team led by Pat Costello included Noel Knox, Rose Cawley, Ted Maloney & Margaret Davey all of whom must be commended for their efforts in forming the panel over the year.    At the end of the game Pat announced his resignation from the team and wished everyone well.  On behalf of the County Board he will be greatly missed and has shaped a confident Ladies Team in Sligo and we hope that when he has had time to think about the positives of the team he may consider returning, if not we wish him well in his new ventures.

The panel that entertained us for the year were: Noelle Gormally (st nathys), Eilse Codd (st michaels), Ruth Goodwin (st marys),Etna Flanagan (capt)( st nathys), Tracy O’Hara (tourlestrane), Nicole Fowley (drumcliff/rosses point), Aine gormally (stnathys), Bernice Byrne(geevagh), Ciara Doyle (curry), Jaqui Mulligan (stfarnans), Sinead McTiernan (geevagh), Karen Maloney (fingallions) Louise Brett (cloonacool/tubbercurry), Roisin Colleeney(curry), Siobhan O’Sullivan (drumcliff/rosses point), Grainne Loughlin (stmichaels) Sarah Feeney (st michaels), Clare Colleran (tourlestrane) Lauren Bowles (stmichaels) Siobhan Melvin (fingallions) Laura Gillespie (tubbercurry) Ashling Molloy (stfarnans) Denise McGrath (ballymote) Tara Doddy (stnathys), Laura Goonan (drumcliff/rosses point) Stephanie O’Reilly (geevagh) Rachel Monaghan (drumcliff/rosses point) Elaine O’Reilly (geevagh) Grainne McDonagh (stnathys)
