The 34th AGM of the Vancouver ISSC The Annual General Meeting of the Vancouver Irish Sporting and Social Club was held on January 18th at Scribes RFC Clubhouse where over 20 members were in attendance. President Gavan Connolly (Dublin) gave a brief run down on all of the years events with specific highlights on the mens Gaelic football team winning the Western Canadian Championship for the second year in a row, the womens team strong showing in Alberta and the continued success of the clubs website www.isscvancouver.com with the larger Irish community. The financial report was ably presented to members by Katrina McAndrew (Nottingham) along with reports from the Vancouver Harps Paul Stack (Clare) and GAA Convener Keith Clark (Toronto). A word of thanks was given to those who served on the 2006 executive and in particular to Bernard Ward (Antrim) who served as Vice- President and Chris Cyr (Vancouver) who managed the ladiess football team. Gavan Connolly chaired the nominations for the 2007 ISSC executive which was highlighted by the willingness of many to let their name stand for a position. President Graham Hancock (Dublin) Vice-President Marcus Treacy (Kerry) Secretary Roicin OConnolly (Cork) Treasurer Katrina McAndrew Western Canadian GAA Reps Erin McGinley (Vancouver) and Ronan Deane (Cork) Members at Large Olivia OHara (Sligo), Ruairi Dolan (Dublin), Keith Clark and Bernard Ward. It was noted before the end of the meeting that members of the Vancouver ISSC continue to contribute to the GAA in Canada, beyond the club, with the recent election of Ronan Deane as Chair of the Western Canadian Divisional Board and John OFlynn (Vancouver) who serves as the Secretary of the Canadian County Board.
