The Dogs head to New York UNDERDOGS 2007. ‘The Dogs Head To New York’ Last year, for the first time, it was the turn of the ladies to be selected as ‘Underdogs’ and the final selection took on the mighty All-Ireland Ladies Football Champions Cork. TG4’s successful reality sports show returns. Following the huge interest in the exploits of the ladies’ football team in the previous series, the underdogs have again called on the managerial skills of selectors Seán Ó Dómhnaill (former Galway all Ireland winning midfielder) and Geraldine Feerick (Star of the successful Mayo and Galway teams of the late 90’s) to put together a successful team of rag tag female footballers. Once again they will have just 6 months to turn 30 club footballers into world beaters. The ultimate challenge this year is to go toe to toe with an all star New York team in New York. In order to achieve this daunting task, our 2 regular selectors have scoured the country (and their address books) to find the very best guest selectors to come in each week and advise the team. Páidí Ó Sé, Jarlath Burns, Martin McHugh and John O’Mahony are just some of the legendary names who are helping to mould 30 strangers into a winning Underdogs team. But even with the best names in the business, can the Underdogs achieve the impossible? Only time will tell. The Underdogs will play a New York select team on Saturday 24th November in Gaelic Park and the match will be broadcast live on TG4 (coverage starts at 2:30pm local time in New York).
