Tipperary Break Record

Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Association have succeeded in their attempt to break the World Record for the ‘Largest Football Mosaic’ last weekend at Moyle Rovers GAA Grounds in Clonmel on Saturday last, July 6th. The world record attempt had the dual aim of promoting the sport in Tipperary and raising funds towards the continued development of Ladies Football within the county and was a huge success.

Local engineer, Will McGarry, had designed the mosaic that was used using the shape of the words ‘The Horse and Jockey,’ a local hotel who is the team sponsor for the Tipperary Intermediate Ladies Team. The final design was 22.2 metres approximately wide and 3.4 metres approximately high covering approx 76 m². The completed design consisted of 1530 footballs in Tipperary’s famous blue and gold colours.

Assistant Tipperary Ladies Football PRO, Michelle Donnelly said ‘We had a great day on Saturday. The mosaic was built indoor while the club members within Tipperary enjoyed a non-competitive blitz outdoor for all clubs.  There was over 300 people in attendance and young and old got to lay a ball and enjoy the great family occasion. ’
