Ulster rivals Armagh and Tyrone must face each other once again

Ladies Gaelic Football News

Ulster rivals Armagh and Tyrone must face each other once again to determine who will progress to the semi-finals of the Suzuki Ladies National Football League

The two sides finished level in Sunday’s game in Crossmaglen and as a result both sides finished locked on ten points apiece in the Division 1A league table. Although Tyrone have a superior points difference the two sides must play each other this weekend to determine who will join Kerry, Cork and Galway in the last four of the competition.

The Orchard County beat their northern neighbours in last year’s Ulster Championship final but Tyrone exacted their revenge when the two sides met in the Championship quarter-finals. Last weekend’s draw ensures that these two teams will have played each other four times in competitive fixtures in the last 12 months.

Cork booked their place in the semi-finals with and emphatic win over Monaghan and will face the winner of this weekend’s play-off match between Tyrone and Armagh. Kerry, who comfortably topped Division 1A, will face Galway in the other Division 1 semi-final.

Wexford are relegated to Division 2 but Meath still retain a slim hope of avoiding the drop as their game against Dublin has been rescheduled for this weekend. Meath prop up the bottom of Division 1B but have a game in hand on second from bottom Kildare who are just one point ahead of the Royals and who have completed their league fixtures.

The Division 2 semi-finals will see Waterford face Donegal and Clare will take on Down. Last year’s Intermediate All Ireland champions, Leitrim, are relegated to Division 3 following a winless campaign and either Tipperary or Longford will join them as these two teams play-off to avoid the drop.

Roscommon will face Derry and Limerick will play Cavan in the Division 3 semi-finals. The Division 1, 2 and 3 Suzuki National League semi-finals will take place on Sunday 6th April.
