Wexford beat Lonford to reach Leinster Final Wexford played Longford in the Leinster semi final on Saturday 14th April in Wexford Park at 6pm. This was Wexford’s first home game of the year and they put in a great second half performance to overcome Longford on a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-8. The first half was a closely fought contest with Wexford and Longford swapping scores throughout. Longford threw everything at Wexford and the half ended with Longford leading by one point, 1-5 to 0-7. Half time saw Wexford making one change, Bridget Curran replacing Fiona Rochford at wing forward. Wexford came out with all guns blazing in the second half, they picked off a couple of fine points on the restart which settled them down and put them in the lead. After this, Wexford never looked back, with the newly introduced Lizzy Kent scoring two superb goals and the influential midfielder Caroline Murphy scoring another, Wexford eased away from Longford and ran out winners to secure themselves a place in this years Leinster Final. They will now face the winners of Westmeath and Louth in two weeks time.
