Sligo Notes 05.03.2013

The “Club Officer Programme” was introduced by Croke Park to assist clubs and county boards in efficiently running their committees.  This workshop is open to all members who hold various roles within the club structures.  It is being held on the 20th March 2013 in the Gaelscoil, St. Marys at 7.30pm sharp.  Your club secretary has been circulated with an attendance form so if you arr interested in attending this please contact your club secretary.

The next County Board meeting will be held on Monday the 11th March at 8.30pm in the Embassy Rooms Sligo.  Please ensure all club delegates attend.

The County Intermediate Team were playing the 4th round of the TESCO HomeGrown National Football League and were up against neighbours Leitrim.  Unfortunately, it was another defeat for the Sligo side with Leitrim emerging victorious with a scoreline of 6.15 to 4.8.  Their next game is at home to Wicklow on 24th March, time and venue to be confirmed.

The Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership are holding a “Code of Ethics” course on March the 11th from 6.30 to 9.30pm in the Embassy, Sligo.  All new and existing members holding a position where they are mentor over a team or a senior role within the club or County Board are encouraged to attend this course.  Please contact your club secretary for an application for this Course.  (Places fill up quickly so don’t delay)

Last year the Sligo County Board launched a new fundraising initiative in association with the Carers Association of Ireland.   A ribbon has been specially designed with both logo’s for St. Patricks Day. This ribbon will be on-sale all over Sligo in selected outlets and will sold on the streets in the weeks coming up to St. Patricks Day.  Each ribbon will cost €2.  The proceeds will be split with the Ladies association and with The Carers Association.   All clubs have been given their portion of Ribbons for 2013 to sell and they will be actively selling them over the coming weeks, so your support will be greatly appreciated.

Sympathy is extended to Ted Maloney and his family on the recent death of his Brother in-law.
