26 players representing 13 clubs feature on 2018 Dubs Star Team

The Senior Dub Stars squad that will take on TG4 All Ireland Champions Dublin, in the New Ireland Assurance sponsored Dub Stars event of 2018 have been announced.

The 2018 Dub Stars team was chosen by a selection committee in conjunction with submissions received from the Dublin LGFA panel of referees throughout the course of the 2018 playing season.

As anticipated four-time Dublin senior and Leinster club champions Foxrock Cabinteely, led the way with six players named on the squad. While newly crowned Intermediate All Ireland champions, Clontarf and Dublin Junior champions Castleknock have four representatives each.

Along with Foxrock Cabinteely, Clontarf and Castleknock players from Clann Mhuire, Clanna Gael Fontenoy, Cuala, Fingallians, Kilmacud Crokes, Lucan Sarsfields, Na Fianna, St Brigids, St Sylvesters and Thomas Davis feature on the 26 strong panel with 13 clubs overall represented.

Six-time TG4 All Star and 2018 TG4 senior All Ireland winner, Sinead Goldrick (Foxrock Cabinteely) will lead the Dub Stars out against All Ireland champions, Dublin at 1.30pm on January 13th in DCU, St Clare’s.

This contest will certainly offer Dublin boss, Mick Bohan and his senior panel of 2019 the opportunity to get some high quality game time in ahead of Dublin’s opening LIDL NFL fixture which is scheduled to take place on the 2nd of February versus Donegal.

There will be plenty of football action on display in DCU on January 13th as the senior contest will be preceded by the Junior Dub Stars game which gets underway at 11:30am.

Each player chosen on the Dub Stars and Junior Dub Stars panels will each receive a New Ireland Assurance sponsored full Dub Stars kit along with a specially commissioned Dub Stars commemorative medal.

Admission to the New Ireland Assurance Dub Stars event on January 13th in DCU will be free of charge with patrons having the option of making a donation to the charity, Daniel’s Voyage.

Daniel Tighe is one of around 40 children living in Ireland born with a rare genetic disorder called Sotos Syndrome – a disorder that causes a number of issues, including rapid growth during the early years of life. Daniel has severe intellectual disability, cortical visual impairment, sensory processing disorder, overgrowth, low mobility, severe epilepsy and is non-verbal.

To continue providing Daniel with the best quality of life, his parents Sinéad, Keith and their daughter Shauna need to adapt the downstairs of their home and Dublin LGFA are hoping that patrons on Jan 13th will support their fundraising drive. You can learn more about Daniel’s story via his social media pages simply go to Daniel’s Voyage on Facebook or Twitter.
