The 2015 Gaelic4Girls National Blitz day will take place this Monday in Croke Park when no fewer than 1,500 girls aged between 8 and 12 descend on the famous Drumcondra venue to put into action the skills that they picked up during their 12 week long course.

As it it were not special enough that these girls get to run out onto Croke Park with a football in hand but they also get to meet their heroes as players like multiple All Star award winners Bríd Stack (Cork) and Sinead Goldrick (Dublin) amongst a galaxy of other stars will be there to sign autographs, give advice and take pictures.

32 clubs took part in the Gaelic4Girls programme representing no fewer than 23 counties and all will be represented in Croke Park during the day of celebration in Croke Park.

The 2015 programme was a notable success as several clubs recorded record attendances passing through the 60 participant number including clubs like Ballinascreen in Derry, Abbeyside from Waterford and Kilkenny’s Dunamaggin.

This programme allows clubs in areas where the game is weak, or where the club is either stuggling or newly established, the chance to attract new players that will guarantee their future as they progress through the ranks. Many clubs are experiencing the highest retention rate to date in the programme with approximately 85% of the new girls recruited registering with the club and integrating into their U-10 and U-12 teams which is a stunning success rate.

The referees that will look after the small sided blitz matches will also be taking their first steps out onto the Croke Park pitch will have come through the Leinster Event Management Programme.
