AIB Senior Connaught Club Championship semi-final Sunday 19th Oct: Corofin (Galway) (h) v Padraig Pearses Roscommon Corofin 3.00pm Padraig Pearses were formed in 1985 and have amassed a total of 14 Roscommon Championships titles in that period of time. In 1999 and 2002 national success was achieved when they won the All Ireland Senior sevens and won the senior sevens shield in 2000. Up to eight players were part of the victorious Roscommon team who won the All Ireland Junior title in 2001. A word of commiseration goes to Aoife Dolphin the goalkeeper who broke her hand in training in the past week. The first ever Ladies football game was played in Corofin as part of a community event back in the early seventies and developed with the association. A decline set in but in the mid 90s the club was reformed and has enjoyed good success. Having won the first ever-County senior Championship title in Galway, two Connaught senior League titles and two weeks ago the All Ireland senior sevens title. This promises to be a very close encounter and great quality football should be on display. For all the matches on display this coming weekend if possible give them all your support.
