All the latest news from Cavan Cavan Ladies U-16 9-A-Side Final Lavey 5-07 Lacken 1-06 Lavey picked up the first ever U-16 9 a side league title when they beat Lacken on Friday evening last in Kilnaleck. Played before a large crowd this inaugural competition was played at a tremendous pace and credit must go to both teams for their efforts throughout the hour. It was Lavey that went in at half time two points up after points from Jacki Rudden (2) and Rene Murphy (4) . Lacken to their credit kept up the pressure with Roisin O’Keefe putting in a brilliant performance in the fist half scoring 1-03. As the teams entered the dressing rooms at half time the score line was 1-07 to 1-05 in favor of Lavey but with Lacken having the aid of a strong wing for the second half. Lavey showed they were serious contenders and with just three minutes gone Rachel Jordan broke through the Lacken defense to score her first goal of the game. The Lavey management were tactical enough to switch players with Renee Murphy moving full forward and Jacki Rudden moving to the middle of the field to assist Rachel Jordan. Indeed it was Jordan who set up the next goal after eight minutes when she lobbed a long ball to Helen Cunningham who blasted the ball into the net. Then in the fifteenth minute Jordan then scored her second goal when she shot from the left hand side of goal to the right corner of the net. Played was held up momentarily whilst medical attention was given to a Lacken player and upon commencement Jacki Rudden Stormed up the field on a solo run to score Lavey’s 5th goal of the game and killing off Lacken’s spirit. She thanked the referee Brian Crowe and the officials, and also Crosserlough GFC for the use of their facilities. She also paid tribute to Edel Keaney from Lacken who although had to be substituted during the game through injury. Finally she presented the cup to Lavey and wished them luck in the championship in the coming weeks ahead. Ulster Intermediate ladies club championship Mullahoran (Cavan) 0-07 Clann Eireann (Armagh) 1-14 Clann Eireann from Armagh advanced to the semi finals of the ladies Ulster intermediate club championship when they produced a storming second half performance to dispose of Mullahoran. It was the Armagh side that started of best with points coming from Mags and Grainne McAlindin, and Vicki Hannon. Mullahoran had to wait until the 15th minute before they got their first score, a point from Emer Reilly. Reilly also got their second point minutes later when she soloed up the field and shot from thirty yards out. Full forward for Mullahoran equalized with a free in the 20th minute before Niamh Brennan was sin binned for Mullahoran reducing them down to fourteen women. Martina Hoye and Una Brady exchanged points before half time to leave the score at the interval of four points each. Meave Moriarty and Vicki put the visitors ahead with one point apiece before Martine Hoye converted a free to sreatch their lead before Catherine Brady replied for Mullahoran. Shauna O’Hagan and Martina Hoye put Clann Eireann further ahead with points before Meave Moriarty stormed through the Mullahoran backline for a goal. Mullahoran replied with points from Breda Smith and Una and Catherine Brady to leave the scoreline 1-09 to 0-07. But it was Clann Eireann that finished with a flourish of points in the last eight minutes with points from Maura Donnelly (2), Shauna O’Hagan (2), Aine Purdy and Shona Mahony to close out the game and leave the final score of 1-14 to 0-07.
