Ladies U-16 9-A-Side Final Lavey 5-07 Lacken 1-06

Lavey picked up the first ever U-16 9 a side league title when
they beat Lacken on Friday evening last in Kilnaleck. Played before
a large crowd this inaugural competition was played at a tremendous
pace and credit must go to both teams for their efforts throughout
the hour. It was Lavey that went in at half time two points up
after points from Jacki Rudden (2) and Rene Murphy (4) . Lacken
to their credit kept up the pressure with Roisin O’Keefe putting
in a brilliant performance in the fist half scoring 1-03. As the
teams entered the dressing rooms at half time the score line was
1-07 to 1-05 in favor of Lavey but with Lacken having the aid
of a strong wing for the second half. Lavey showed they were serious
contenders and with just three minutes gone Rachel Jordan broke
through the Lacken defense to score her first goal of the game.

The Lavey management were tactical enough to switch players with
Renee Murphy moving full forward and Jacki Rudden moving to the
middle of the field to assist Rachel Jordan. Indeed it was Jordan
who set up the next goal after eight minutes when she lobbed a
long ball to Helen Cunningham who blasted the ball into the net.
Then in the fifteenth minute Jordan then scored her second goal
when she shot from the left hand side of goal to the right corner
of the net. Played was held up momentarily whilst medical attention
was given to a Lacken player and upon commencement Jacki Rudden
Stormed up the field on a solo run to score Lavey’s 5th goal of
the game and killing off Lacken’s spirit.
