NUACHT ULADH

TRUDI KIERANS CUP
The Trudi Kiearns cup and Heaney shield competitions
were postponed last weekend due to the unavailability of
pitches. Ulster Council will decide at their next meeting
when to play the tournaments.

U16 CHAMPIONSHIP
The Ulster U16 championship gets underway in less than
a weeks time. On Tuesday next the following games are down
for decision: Donegal v Fermanagh / Armagh, Derry v Down,
Monaghan v Cavan and Antrim v Tyrone.

DOWN U14 SCHOOLS UPDATE
In the Down U14 B Schools league, Sacred Heart, Newry
defeated St. Mary’s, Downpatrick. Castlewellan also had
a well-earned victory over their Downpatrick neighbours.
In the final St. Malachy’s beat Sacred Heart. Catherine
Ward was in excellent form for the winners whilst Niamh
Mc Gowan and the Cole sisters were best for Sacred Heart.
St. Malachy’s now play the winners of Cavan and Tyrone in
the Ulster campaign. There was also an historic first for
St. Mary’s, Newry and St. Mark’s, Warrenpoint as they met
in their first ever ladies game in the U14 C league. A brace
of goals from Natasha Lennon gave St. Mark’s an early advantage.
However St. Mary’s who are better known for their Boys team
had the better of the second half. Goals from Aisling Mc
Geough and Catherine Mc Govern and a late scoring spree
involving Lorraine Havern, Aisling Mc Evoy and the Fagan
twins made sure of the points for St. Mary’s. On Monday
last, Our Lady’s, Newry also defeated St. Mark’s. Ross Carr’s
daughter Sarah Louise along with Brenda Murphy and Susan
Guiney performed best for Our Lady’s. They now meet fellow
Newry side St. Mary’s in the next game to decide the County
title.

NEW FARNEY CAPTAIN
Mary Croarkin (Aghabog) has been named as the new caption
of the Monaghan senior team. Edel Byrne who has returned
after an injury has been named vice captain.

ULSTER PLAYERS SUCCESS IN LIVERPOOL
Sinead Morgan (Armagh) also won Most Improved Player
and gained Half Colours for sporting achievements at the
college (Liverpool Hope).

ORCHARD COUNTY AWARD WINNERS
At the recent Armagh ladies presentation night the following
players received awards: County Player of the Year – Dervala
Toal, Minor – Maebh Moriarty, U16 – Louise Mc Nulty, U14
– Victoria Hannon, Divison One – Shauna O Hagan, Division
Two – Siobhan Rafferty, Club of the Year – Clan Eireann

ULSTER PLAYERS SUCCESS IN LIVERPOOL
Two Ulster players were amongst the awards winners at
Liverpool Hopes Presentation night, which was held last
weekend. Mairead Tennison (Armagh) won the player of the
year award, whilst Amanda Treanor (Monaghan) was name the
most promising newcomer.
