Player of the Month for September

Angie McDermott is the Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent Player of the Month for September. The Cappawhite midfielder led her side’s fight back against Clare to claim the 2008 TG4 Intermediate All Ireland title.

The Premier County trailed by four points after a speculative shot from Magella Griffin resulted in a dramatic goal for the Banner County. But McDermott rallied her troops and Tipp mounted a comeback which saw them score six unanswered points to secure the Mary Quinn Memorial Cup.

Speaking at the award presentation in Croke Park, Angie said, “It is a great honor to win this award and I would like to accept it on behalf of everyone involved in the Tipperary team. It was a great achievement to win the Intermediate title and we are already looking forward to competing in next year’s Senior Championship.”
