Apply Now for Grab Your Whistle Referee Academy

The LGFA Grab Your Whistle Referee Academy has been devised to develop aspiring referees aged 18 – 45 years within Ladies Gaelic Football and this will be delivered over 6 months by experts in the field. We are delighted to launch this year’s exciting programme through our Women in Sport Funding from Sport Ireland.

This initiative welcomes referees from all counties to take part, male and female, but we would encourage all counties to aim to have at least one female referee taking part. We would really encourage you to take this opportunity to identify referees in your county for what is going to be another inspiring and innovative programme. The feedback from the previous academy programme was exceptional with all referees now very active at club and in some cases provincial level.

The Programme consists of 5 Modules, 3 online webinars, and 2 national sessions in a central location taking place from March to September 2022 which will focus on Technical, Physical, Mental and Tactical development whilst also providing practical referee experience on top of ongoing support and advice. Participants will also have to attend assigned games and events as part of compulsory practical experience.

Who Can Apply?

Participants cannot be on a Provincial or National Referee Panel but must be currently refereeing in their county and have a minimum of 1 years experience as a referee. Candidates apply directly by clicking this link and we will then get sign off on your application from your county board. All candidates must be committed to attend all workshops as attendance is compulsory throughout.
