Armagh have qualified for the Ulster TG4 senior
semi final after another dominant display against Donegal. While
the Tir Chonnail girls improved slightly from last week classy Armagh
easily won 2-17 to 0-10.

Donegal started brightly and a couple of points from Yvonne Mc Monagle
and another from Karen Gutterie put them three ahead after four
minutes. Dervla Toal brought the sides level in the fifth minute
when her speculative shot crossed the goal line. Armagh’s Maria
O Donnell and Shauna O Hagan traded points with Gutterie and Mc
Monagle to leave the sides level 1-2 to 0-5 with twenty minutes
gone. The Orchard county then had a five minute purple patch. Mairead
Tennyson, Shauna O Hagan (2), Maria O Donnell and Alma O Donnell
all fired over points. Yvonne Mc Monagle hit a free for Donegal
on the stroke of half time but Armagh came back again and further
points from Tennyson and midfielder O Donnell helped them to a 1-9
to 0-6 half time lead.

Early in the second half Dervla Toal and Patricia Mc Avoy pointed
for Armagh. Sheila Campbell fired over for Donegal with 35 minutes
gone but once again Armagh responded with points from Substitute
Aileen Matthews (2), Tennyson and Caroline O Hanlon. Donegal’s Mc
Monagle exchanged another point with O Hanlon before Armagh’s Caoimhe
Marely was sin binned for persistent fouling. With the corner back
of the field the scoring continued. Tennyson scored a fine goal
for Armagh and Aileen Matthews brought her tally to three points.
For Donegal their best forwards Gutterie and Mc Monagle added another
point each but when the final whistle went Armagh had recorded another
fine thriteen point victory and now meet Tyrone in the semi final.
