Armagh Minors continue their winning ways

Armagh Minor footballers continued their winning ways on Saturday when they triumphed over a strong Antrim team. Armagh started off the better team when Ciara Lennon opened the scores with a point. This was followed by a scoring blitz from the two Siobhans, Mackle and Feeney who scored 1.2 and 1.1 respectively. It was then the turn of the half forward pair of Aoife & Ciara Lennon who added to the score board with some fine scores.

Armagh’s persistent attacking resulting in score after score; with Siobhan Macke and Siobhan Feeney continuing their early scoring with more fantastic scores.

Armagh’s defence again proved strong with tight marking and talking proving a focal point for many attacks, as well as steady goalkeeping and fabulous saves from Armagh Harps ‘keeper Kelly-Ann Conlon in goals. Armagh quashed any Antrim attack in particular from Antrim Senior star Mairead Cooper who was well marked by Frances Quinn.
Second half started but Armagh continued their winning ways with again, Aoife & Ciara Lennon and Siobhan Mackle & Feeney contributing too many Armagh attack.

Antrim though picked up the pace a bit and put Armagh’s defence under a bit of pressure, though despite being temporarily down to 14 players Armagh withstood the pressure and continued their stronghold on the game with commanding performance yet again from midfield duo Aisling Hughes & Fionnuala McKenna who bossed the middle third. As well as covering every blade grass, Aisling popped up with two well taken points near end game as well as Megan Cinnomond who completed a hard working game with a well deserved score.
