Armagh to meet Sligo in Junior Final

A personal tally of 1-6 from full forward Aileen Matthews helped
Armagh overcome a very gallant Fermanagh in a highly entertaining
All Ireland junior semi final. The foundation for the Orchard
victory was down to a seven-minute spell midway through the first
half when they rattled the Fermanagh net three times. After an
even first quarter Armagh lead 0-3 to 0-2 but then player of the
match Aileen Matthews hit her sides first goal. T

he lively Mairead Tennyson found the net two minutes later and
then veteran Patricia Mc Evoy followed up with her sides third
in the 21st minute. The sides exchanged further points in the
last ten minutes to leave the half time score Armagh 3-6 Fermanagh
0-5. Fermanagh dominated the third quarter. The Armagh defence
struggled to cope with the Erne attack and gave away several frees.

The excellent Caroline Little scored a penalty and sent over five
frees to leave just three points between the sides with 12 minutes
left. Just when it looked like a shock was on the cards the brilliant
Matthews produced the goods. After sending over a couple of points
she then set up substitute Mags Mc Alinden for a killer goal.
Despite the second half dominance of Fermanagh Armagh went on
to win by eight points.

In the All Ireland final they will play Sligo. Goals from Ethna
Flanagan and Therese Marron along with three second half points
from player of the match Stephanie O Reilly helped the Connacht
champions to a 2-10 to 1-9 win over Wexford.
