Tullamore Ladies The Banner Ladies of Ennis and the Tullamore Ladies of Offaly had a great day out on Saturday afternoon with a series of challenge U-10 and U-12 games at the magnificent Lees Road all weather sports arena in Ennis. Taking to the field immediately after the Clare senior hurling squad had finished their rigorous training session nearly seventy girls from both clubs held sway for the afternoon. In all a series of four games were played, with the novel formal of the games being divided into four ten minute quarters (thus ensuring that each U-10 and each U-12 girl saw plenty of playing action). All games played were very high skilled with some excellent high fielding, blocking down and point scoring on view for interested onlookers. As a bonus the weather held fine for the afternoon and all the girls had a good two hours or so of football. All the games were played in an excellent spirit which further added to the enjoyment of the afternoon for the players and their mentors. Afterwards both teams were treated to fruit (kindly sponsored by Greenacres Fruit & Veg, Ennis) and the inevitable crisps & drinks & other treats. Thus around 4.00pm seventy happy girls adjourned home after what everybody agreed was a great afternoon of sport and fun. Thanks to the Tullamore Ladies Football Club for travelling to Ennis and the girls of the Banner Ladies can’t wait for the return trip to Tullamore. Thanks also to Ennis UDC and to Clare County Council for making their superb all weather facility and dressing rooms available to both teams.
