Brianne Leahy – Player of the month for June Brianne Leahy is the Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent Player of the Month for June Brianne Leahy is the Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent Player of the Month for June. The Kildare midfielder starred for the Lilywhites in their Leinster Championship semi-final win over Meath. Leahy’s contribution that day was instrumental in allowing Kildare to record their first ever senior victory over Meath and ensuring qualification for their first ever Senior Leinster Final. The Grangenolvan star gave an all action display in the middle of the park highlighting why she is regarded as one of the most naturally gifted players in the game. Leahy, who handed the captaincy of the Lilywhites over to her sister Kate this season, was vice captain of the first ever lrish Ladies International Rules squad which won the two Test Series against Australia last autumn. Speaking at the Award presentation in Croke Park, Leahy said, “The game against Meath was a great team performance. We were all very focused and everyone performed really well on the day.
