Sport/Irish Independent Player of the Month for June.

The Kildare midfielder starred for the Lilywhites in
their Leinster Championship semi-final win over Meath.
Leahy’s contribution that day was instrumental in allowing
Kildare to record their first ever senior victory over
Meath and ensuring qualification for their first ever
Senior Leinster Final.

The Grangenolvan star gave an all action display in
the middle of the park highlighting why she is regarded
as one of the most naturally gifted players in the game.
Leahy, who handed the captaincy of the Lilywhites over
to her sister Kate this season, was vice captain of
the first ever lrish Ladies International Rules squad
which won the two Test Series against Australia last
autumn.

Speaking at the Award presentation in Croke Park, Leahy
said, “The game against Meath was a great team performance.
We were all very focused and everyone performed really
well on the day. I am delighted to accept this award
on behalf of everyone involved in the Kildare team.”
