Player of the Month for July Briege Corkery is the
Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent Player of the Month
for July. The Cork half back starred for the Rebelettes
against Galway as the All Ireland champions took a
major step on the way to securing a place in the last
eight.

The St Valentines star who received the Player of
the Match Award for her performance against Galway
is chasing her third consecutive Senior All Ireland
title and was a TG4 All Star in 2005. The clash with
Galway in Group 2 on the opening weekend of the Championship
was a vital game for both counties as both harbored
serious aspirations of All Ireland glory. Cork emerged
as the winners and the performance of Corkery played
no small part in the Rebelettes victory.

Speaking at the Award presentation in Croke Park,
Corkery said, “The game against Galway was a fierce
tough match. We had a great first half but did not
play as a unit in the second. It was a good team performance
and I am delighted to accept this award on behalf
of all the Cork team.”
