Suzuki Ladies National Football League Quarter-finals Weekend This weekend sees the business end of the Suzuki Ladies National Football League kick into action with quarter-finals taking place in all three divisions. The tie of the round in Division 1 is the meeting of last years All Ireland finalists Cork and Armagh at Park Ratheniska on Sunday. Despite being run close in that final in October last year, Cork are expected to extend their unbeaten run and advance to the semi-finals. “We have had a good start to the season, but this is the stage of the competition where everyone has to raise their game. We will be without our camogie contingent for the game against Armagh, but hopefully we can do enough to get through,” said Cork captain Juliet Murphy. Armagh have failed to rediscover the form which propelled them from Junior champions to senior finalists and will need something special to beat the Rebellettes. Another mouth watering quarter-final sees last years beaten league finalists, Meath taking on a Mayo side on the crest of a wave. Mayo had a slow start to this year’s league campaign but finished with three impressive wins to top Division 1A. The Royal County will put in a strong performance but Mayo are expected to advance. Kerry have surprised many teams this year with their high octane performances but even without the element of surprise they should have far too much firepower for Monaghan in their quarter final clash. The last of the quarter-finals sees the Leinster and Connacht champions come face to face as Laois take on Galway. Dublin booked their place in the Division 2 semi-finals with an emphatic win over Down last weekend. All Ireland Junior Champions Sligo will be hoping to join them this weekend at the expense of Longford while Leitrim will have it all to do against in form Tipperary. The final quarter-final in Division 2 sees Clare take on Wexford with the Model County favoured to advance. Share this Article 0 0
