Carnacon win close fought TESCO All Ireland Club Semi Final

Carnacon of Mayo and Inch Rovers of Cork met in the TESCO All Ireland Club Semi Final at Islandeady on Sunday and produced a fantastic game of football. The All Ireland champions were pushed all the way by their visitors from Cork but a powerful final quarter saw them through to the TESCO All Ireland Senior Club Final.

Inch Rovers lead by 7 points to 6 at half time thanks to scores from former All Stars, Mary O’Connor and Amy O’Shea but Cora Staunton kicked 5 first half points to keep the Mayo women in touch. Inch continued to lead into the second half and were ahead by two points entering the final quarter but thanks to an excellent performance from Carnacon goalkeeper, Michelle Higgins, keeping Inch out and a flurry of scores from Staunton, Aoife Brennan and Matha Carter the defending All Ireland Champion powered through to the All Ireland Final.
