Cavan Ladies Club Championship News Congratulations to Lacken ladies who won the J&L Stores Intermediate championship on Saturday last with a victory over Erne Gales. Great credit must go to all the officials and players in the club who have put in an outstanding effort over the last few years. Also well done to Erne Galligan who won the woman-of-the-match award for her brilliant contribution of seven points during the game. In the Junior final Lavey picked up their first ever senior trophy with a win over near neighbors Killygarry with a score of 1-10 to 0-05. The youthful Rachel Jordan put in a tremendous display in defense and rightly earned her the prize of woman-of-the-match. Congratulations to all. This Saturday 11th September sees the Cavan Crystal Hotel senior championship final between the reigning county and Ulster champions Knockbride against Erne Valley. Knockbride will go in as favorites with a string of star players in their panel. County captain Joanne McNally, Ace free taker Aisling Traynor, Emma Clarke, Elaine Costin, Nuala Rodgers and Carmel McCabe are just a few who will be hunting for more glory and repeat of lasts year’s results. Erne Valley will rely heavily on Emer Reilly, Patricia Lynch, Laura Pearson and Julie Ann Sheridan. Last year when the teams met in the semi final, it was Knockbride that pulled away in the last ten minutes. They won’t be relinquishing their title that easily but face a tough challenge from the spirited and determined Erne Valley. A mouth watering clash is expected as the two big giants of Cavan ladies football meet and a large crowd is expected. Ray Brady Cavan Ladies PRO Share this Article 0 0
