Cavan U-16’s continue their winning form Cavan 15-15 Fermanagh 0-03 Cavan U-16 ladies continued from their winning form with a comprehensive and clinical display in Vriginia on Saturday last. As the scoreline might suggest it was all one way traffic from the out-start and within fifteen minutes Cavan’s full forward, Mullahoran woman Julie-Ann Brady, had already scored her hat-trick of goals with three brilliant efforts. Roisin O’Keefe kept up the pressure with some marvelous point scoring. Donna English added another 1-02 when her long range shot lobbed the Fermanagh goalkeeper to land in the back of the net. Roisin O’Keefe added another three more points to her tally before half back Nicola Fortune made a great run forward to score a point. In form Karen Reilly eventually made the breakthrough when she scored a goal in the 28th minute and followed this up with a point to close the scoring at half time. Cavan 5-10 to Fermanagh 0-01 Sinead Denning opened the scoring in the second half with a superb goal in the 1st minute. Karen Reilly added her second and third goals minutes later. Cavan showed no signs of taking the pressure off and further goals from Jenny McGuigan, Denning, Aggie Clarke and two from Deidre Kelly turned the game into more of a practice session rather than a championship game. The very fact that this is Cavan’s only second game in this competition showed their growing confidence and alertness on the ball as they prepare for the mammoth challenge against Tyrone on Easter Monday. Tyrone are one of the favourites this year and they too disposed of Fermanagh in a similar scoreline. Jenny McGuigan added two more goals and further points from Deidre Kelly and Rachel Jordan closed the scoring leaving the Cavan team in high spirits as they face their next challenge. Manager Eamon Lynch introduced his full quota of substitutes and will be pleased with their performance. All the substitutes proved their willingness and confident nature to play, thus increasing the competitiveness for positions on the starting lineup.
