Clare Senior League 1st Round Results West Clare Gaels 5 – 14 Doonbeg 3 – 2 Fergus Rovers 4 – 8 Coolmeen 1 – 2 Intercounty U – 14 Challenge Clare 2 – 2 Mayo 4 – 3, played in Mayo Abbey, Co. Mayo. Clare Féile Peil na nÓg This years Clare Ladies Féile Peil na nÓg U – 14 Competition will take place in St. Joseph’s Doora-Barefield’s grounds in Gurteen on this coming Saturday, March 25th commencing @ 11.30am sharp. The groupings for the competition are as follows: Group A: The Banner, Milltown, Newmarket and West Clare Gaels. Group B: Wolfe Tones, Cooraclare, Doora-Barefield and Fergus Rovers. Teams will play against each other in their respective groups with the winners of Group A playing the runners up of Group B and the winners of Group B playing the runners up of Group A in the semi-finals. All games will be 15-a-side of 30 minutes duration (2 x 15 minute halves). Scoring averages will count in the group stages and extra time will be played to decide semi-finals and final if necessary. Points will be awarded as follows in the group stages. Win = 2 points. Draw = 1 point. The winners of this qualifying tournament will go forward to represent Clare Ladies Football in the 2006 All Ireland Féile Peil na nÓg competition finals to be held in Co. Wicklow over the first weekend in July. The Banner Ladies Club of Ennis are the reigning All Ireland Champions at this level and it is hoped that this tournament will again produce worthy representatives for Clare Ladies Football in the All Ireland series. Referees Presentation and Rules Seminar The Clare Ladies Board will make presentations to all referees who participated in Clare Championship Finals in the 2004/2005 seasons at a special ceremony in the West County Hotel, Ennis on Friday next @ 7.30pm. This event will be followed @ 8.30pm sharp by a rules seminar conducted by Kerry’s Mick Fitzgerald. All club coaches/mentors/players and club referees are requested to attend as this should be a very informative evening. Each club should be represented by at least two members. Light refreshments will be served. Civic Reception The Banner Ladies Football Club U – 14 All Ireland Féile winning team are to be honoured by Ennis Urban District Council at a Civic Reception in the Council Chambers on Friday March 31st. The Clare Ladies Football Board is delighted that their achievement is being marked in this special way and congratulate the Banner Club on their success and thank Ennis UDC for their public recognition of this important national achievement for Ladies Football in Clare. St. Patrick’s Day Parades The Ladies County Board wishes to thank all clubs, players and mentors who participated in parades in towns all over the county on St. Patrick’s Day. Such participation enhances both the public image and the community importance of Ladies Gaelic Football Clubs within the county.
