Clare make certain of U-14 Munster Semi-Final place

Munster A U-14 Quarter Finals

Clare 10 – 13 Waterford 0 – 2

Clare Ladies U – 14 footballers made sure of their place in the
Munster A semi-final against Cork on Wednesday 14th June (hopefully
at Cusack Park , Ennis) with a big victory over Waterford on bank
holiday Monday last. Clare bounced back from their recent defeat
to Kerry and had a full panel available for selection. That this
game went ahead at all is something the Munster Council will have
to reflect on as Clare had already inflicted a serious drubbing
on Waterford less than four weeks ago and it was predictable that
a victory of similar proportions would again ensue.

This cannot be good for either team and especially dispiriting
for the Waterford girls whose enthusiasism and appetite for playing
the game in the future will have been seriously dented. Clare started
the game well with two goals from Megan Haugh after six minutes.
Aileen Wall opened the Déise scoresheet with a Waterford
point in the eight minute but this was quickly followed by points
from Niamh O’Dea and Megan Haugh (3) and an Ailish Considine goal
in the seventeenth minute. Aoife Davoren then got on the scoresheet
for Clare with a well taken point before Waterford’s only other
score of the game,a point from Nicola Fennel, was registered. Late
in the first half Clare had further goals from Hough and Considine
to leave the interval score Clare 5 – 6 to Waterford’s 0 – 2. In
the second half it was all Clare from the throw in and even with
five changes it made no difference to the game as Sinead Sexton
and Shauna Keane impressed when they were introduced in place of
Niamh O’Dea and Megan Hough of the Banner Club. Clare ‘s first score
of the second half came for Ailish Considine with a goal after one
minute followed by points from Considine , Haugh & Katie Curtin.

Sinead Sexton goaled in the eight minute this was followed by a
point from Eimear O’Connor before Clare again struck for goals from
Sexton, Considine and Shauna Keane. Clare added further points from
Sexton (2) and Ailsih Considine to leave the final score at Clare
10 – 13, Waterford 0 – 2 .
