Clare Senior League Final Match report

2007 County Senior League Final

Date: Saturday December 8th

Venue: Doonbeg

Time: 4.30pm

Miltown .v. Cooraclare

What an enthralling game is in prospect to bring the curtain down
on the domestic season in Clare. Reigning league champions Miltown
put their title on the line against their championship conquerors
and greatest rivals Cooraclare. Saturday’s match, to be played
under lights in Doonbeg, should have plenty to attract a large
following of supporters from both the clubs involved and neutrals
alike. Miltown will be keen to gain revenge for their senior football
championship final defeat at the hands of the Sky Blues. Many
of the St. Joseph’s players will also be on a footballing high
following their emphatic win over the Banner in the recent Minor
A championship final (also played under lights in Coolmeen). Cooraclare
on the other hand are coming off a very hard season that saw them
progress to the Munster Intermediate championship final where
they suffered a torrid trimming at the hands of Mourneabbey of
Cork.

Still as Clare County champions they will be anxious to put in
a good performance on Saturday and end their season on a high
note. Another thriller between these great rivals is thus in prospect
and if Cooraclare can again rise to their Clare Championship final
heights they will again be difficult to beat. Miltown will be
the fitter of the two teams on this occasion though given the
recent minor campaign and this could be telling come six o’clock
or so on Saturday. I expect a big game from Cooraclare but on
this occasion

I expect the Willie Clancy lassies to have the edge come the final
whistle. Miltown to win this one – but I wouldn’t put my house
on it.
