Clonard benefit from Sports Capital Grant

Clonard Ladies GFC received an early Christmas present recently when the recipients of The Department of Transport, Sport & Tourism Sports Capital Grant 2012 were announced in early December with Clonard Ladies receiving €6,000 towards non-personalized sports equipment.

Out of 2,170 applications for the grant, Clonard Ladies was one of 19 clubs in Wexford to receive funding and the only stand-alone Ladies GFC in the Country.  Suzanne Brennan, Secretary of the Club, said that “this grant could not have come at a better time for the Club as like many other clubs during these economic times, funds are very low and fundraising is becoming very difficult.  The grant received will be used to purchase much needed equipment (balls, bibs, cones, ladders, etc.), as our Club is growing successfully we now cater for U8’s, U10’s, U12’s, U14’s U16, Minor and Senior Ladies, and we will now be in a position  to cater for Gaelic4Moters& Others this coming season”.

The Club intends to put the grant to good use through coaching and development of their underage girls as they are the future of the Club, and to also develop and up skill their mentors & coaches coaching skills.  “Overall Clonard Ladies are looking forward to 2013 with this added bonus the future of our Club is looking very bright indeed.”
