Connacht are celebrating today after their Post Primary Interprovincial team emerged victorious after a tough day of competition in St. Loman’s. Munster had been hoping to win their third interprovincial title in a row and started out well in their quest for the hattrick as they produced a powerful display against Ulster to win 4=03 to 0-05. Meanwhile goals were the key for Connacht as they scored two goals in a tight win over Leinster on a scoreline of 2-00 to 0-05. Leinster recovered from their opening defeat to hand Munster their second defeat and effectively end their hopes of retaining the title. Connacht claimed their second victory in a highscoring second round encounter winning 4-08 to Ulster’s 4-00. Connacht completed their unbeaten journey through the round robin stage as they earned a hard fought victory over Munster winning by only 2 points. The other game saw Leinster and Ulster go head to head to decide who would go forward to contest the Cup Final and it was Leinster who proved too strong as they scored 3-09 to Ulster’s 0-06. Ulster met Munster in the shield final where Ulster produced their best performance of the day as they eased past Munster 5-07 to 0-03. In the Cup final it was Connacht who saved their best display for last as they scored 2-07 and conceded only a single point against Leinster. Connacht were the deserving winners of the title and had the star performer of the tournament in their ranks in Galway Senior star, Olivia Divilly who was named Player of the Tournament.
