Connacht U – 14 Championship
Round 3 of this year’s U – 14 Championship will go ahead this Saturday 12th April with pointless Leitrim at home to defending A Champions Galway and B Champions Roscommon hoping to return to winning ways when they entertain Mayo.
Mayo find themselves in the same boat as Leitrim having suffered two defeats to Sligo and Galway respectively on home soil in recent weeks. They will no doubt be hoping for a change of fortune as they set off on the roads. Roscommon will hope to get their campaign back on track following their defeat in Sligo last time out. They began with an opening day victory over Leitrim.
Having enjoyed the bye on the opening day, Galway began life in this year’s Championship with an impressive victory on their travel in Mayo. No doubt they will be hoping that their traveling luck will be there again except this time in Leitrim.
Table toppers Sligo enjoy a weekend off this time out. Forward Emma Hansberry followed up her impressive 4 – 2 against Mayo by notching another 2 – 2 against Roscommon on Saturday, others to impress for the Yeats County included Grainne Casey who accounted for 0 – 3, Midfielders Laura Gillespie and Sarah Reynolds while Goalkeeper Michelle Brett who made some excellent saves.
By breakfast time on Sunday the whereabouts of all teams and the route they will be taken will probably be much clearer but one never knows as a party popper is normally only around the corner.
