Cork and Tipp finish level in a classic CORK LADIES FOOTBALL TG4 MUNSTER JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP, Round 4 CORK 3-10 TIPPERARY 3-10 Last nights round four, level pegging display in Ardfinnan, set the scene for a classic TG4 Munster junior final on August 7. Having trailed 1-2 2-7 at the interval, Cork had no choice but to pull their socks up and that they did. Inspired by Annie Walsh and Tara Galvin they clawed their way back and with a minute into injury time, they led by two points, thanks to an earlier penalty from Ciara O’Sullivan. Instantly, the Premier county mastered a peach of a comeback, as captain Mairead Morrissey secured, what was believed to be the match winning goal. But it was Cork’s Joanne Hennessy who stole the limelight when she coolly slotted over a point to level the game, seconds before proceedings were called to a halt. “Defensively we gelled extremely well”, said assistant Cork manager, Terry O’Brien. “Under severe pressure our backs kept their heads and our keeper pulled off the saves when questions were asked. “The dilemma now is naming the team for the final. Everyone has proved themselves, it’s just a case of getting the right formula now. Come show time in two weeks, the Rebels’ will no doubt have the plan fine tuned to retain their Munster crown.
