11 September 2007 Cork getting ready for Senior All-Ireland Final Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! Cork getting ready for Senior Final The Senior Ladies are all geared up for the All-Ireland Senior final on Sunday week. Talks of three in a row are being kept firmly on the backburner with the camogie players having just missed out on such a feat on Sunday last. Cork will treat it as any other game they know that Mayo beat them in the League Semi and ended their excellent run of 31 matches on the trot. Cork have not lost since and when one looks back on the Suzuki league Semi Final, most of the squad were preparing for vital exams. Those pressures off, Cork strode majestically though the Championship racking up big scores and displaying great composure in the latter stages of the championship. Waterford gave them a very tough battle in the Munster final but after that they had very easy wins. Those easy wins could be a minus for them because they have not been really tested in recent games but when it comes to the All-Ireland final the experience of the last 2 finals will stand them in great stead. Not that Mayo will be lacking in experience since they made their breakthrough in the late nineties when they won 4 titles in 5 years they will want to bridge the gap to their last triumph against Dublin in 2003. In Cora Staunton they possess the most lethal forward in Ireland male or female, but Cork at this stage will have hatched a plan to curtail the Carnacon flying machine. Mayo have always brought a huge following to Croker and no doubt they will do so again. The fact that they are playing Mayo and its virtually a 50/50 game, should inspire the Cork faithful as well and they should turn out in big numbers to support the Rebelettes. Many clubs have organised groups and must be commended for this. Hopefully every club in the Co will give the backing to the girls that they deserve.
