CORK LADIES FOOTBALL AND SUPERVALU LAUNCH SUMMER CAMPS By Mary White The Cork Ladies Football Summer Camps are set to explode in July and August having recently teamed up with Supervalu and Cahalane-Skuse. On Tuesday the launch of the 2005 Gaelic Football Summer Camps took place and guests included former Cork footballer Niall Cahalane, Seamus Scally (Supervalu) Peter Skuse (Cahalane-Skuse), and Charlie McLoughlin (Development Officer). Student’s from Ovens National School also attended, many of whom will participate in the camps. This is the seventh year the ladies football board has held the camps, which are open to both boys and girls between 6-14years. With the huge surge in ladies football nationally and the marketing of GAA to young boys, the Summer Camps have grown dramatically in numbers attending and venues. “From an early age boys and girls need to be thought the techniques of football properly and that’s what we do”, said Camp Co-ordinator, Charlie McLoughlin. “Underage structures, at county and club are the future of our game and any opportunity we can give to young players to improve their game the better. “Clubs whose players attend benefit in turn and for those new to the game it puts them in the right direction in a friendly atmosphere”. The cost per child is 50 for 5 days (discount available for families) and each child attending will receive an official Gaelic Football Summer Camp playing kit, which includes jersey, shorts and socks. For an application form or any queries contact Charlie McLoughlin (Camp Co-ordinator) on 087-2807966 or Susan Power (Enrolment Officer) on 086-8416856.
