01 April 2003 Cork Ladies Football looking for a new sponsor Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! Cork Ladies Football By Fr. Liam Kelleher. Cork Ladies Football looking for a new sponsor With the farming sector going through a difficult time. Dairygold through their brand product “SNO” have decided to end their sponsorship, of Cork ladies Football after 3 very successful years. During that period Cork under age teams have won 6 All-Ireland titles and Ladies Football has made huge strides in a Co that has lagged behind for so many years. Apart from the dedicated work of clubs players, mentors and officials, the School of excellence and particularly the Summer camps have played a huge role and the Sno sponsorship helped greatly with these as well. Dairygold have given a commitment that they will still give any help they can especially to the Summer school and with the upcoming golf classic on April the 12th at Kanturk Golf club and this is indeed welcome news. Huge programme of Inter-co matches. Cork have a huge programme of Inter-co matches during the coming months, both Senior A and B teams have reached knock out stages of the Leagues and Cork will field teams at under 14, 16, 18 Junior and senior level in the Munster Championship. With competitions based on a round robin system Cork will have a much bigger programme of matches during the 2003 season. Major opportunity. A major opportunity now arises for some enterprising company to fill the void left by SNO. There must be many companies out there that could, benefit enormously from the exposure they would get from sponsoring Cork teams. Efforts are currently being made to attract a high profile sponsor and as we go to press nothing concrete has been obtained. If you or your company is interested please contact Fr. Liam Kelleher at 087-8516984 or any member of the Board. 2nd Annual Golf Classic at Kanturk Golf Club Saturday April 12TH 2003. – In Aid of Cork Ladies Football Teams. Cork have a huge commitment in relation to their Inter-co games . Cork field teams at under 14, 16, 18, Junior and Senior level. The year 2002 was a very successful one. The under 14’s won the All-Ireland for the 3rd year in a row as well as winning the All-Ireland blitz in the same age group. The under 16 team won the All-Ireland. The Junior team reached the All-Ireland Semi-final. The Senior team put up a great show losing by 4 points to Waterford in the Munster final after putting out the holders Clare in the Semi-final Cork Junior and senior teams have played 10 matches in the recent Suzuki National League and both teams have qualified for the Quarter finals . So you can see there is a huge expense involved. Dairygold announced recently they were not renewing their major sponsorship under the SNO brand for 2003 so there will be a huge burden on the Board. Perhaps you may have a contact where we can look for a sponsor, it should be very attractive with Cork doing so well. One way you can get support from a company or golfers you know is to get a team for the golf Classic. A team of 3 Costs E120 and this includes dinner.
